Management of Tissue Ischemia in Mastectomy Skin Flaps: Algorithm Integrating SPY Angiography and Topical Nitroglycerin
Tissue ischemia can be managed in several different ways based on the cause of the perfusion defect, including topical nitroglycerin or surgical intervention. However, there are times when tissue perfusion is questioned and clinical examination is unable to determine definitively the cause of ischemic tissue and whether it will survive. In this technique article, we describe our comprehensive a...
متن کاملPapaverine for Ischemia Following Peripheral Arterial Catheterization in Neonates.
11 Extremely low birth weight neonates who developed skin discoloration after peripheral arterial catheterization were given intra-arterial papaverine before the removal of arterial line. The skin color turned normal in all these neonates and none developed residual damage. In 3 neonates who could not receive papaverine, one developed gangrene of fingers.

Vascular injury after arterial catheterization.
Twenty-three cases of arterial injury after 8,208 arterial catheterizations for diagnostic or therapeutic indications at Glasgow Royal Infirmary are reviewed. Clinical presentation included haematoma formation, development of an acutely ischaemic limb or a false aneurysm. Patients with valvular heart disease are identified as a high risk group. Nine cases were managed by simple suture of the pu...
متن کاملSuccessful controlled limb reperfusion after severe prolonged ischemia.
Controlled limb reperfusion was performed in two patients who were admitted for lower limb-threatening ischemia as a result of embolism. After embolectomy, the inflow blood was drained with a cannula and mixed with a crystalloid solution to obtain an hyperosmolar, hypocalcemic, alkalotic, and substrate-enriched (aspartate, glutamate) reperfusate. This reperfusate was reinjected with a roller pu...
